Great North Run 2026: A Full House at Numero Uno, and How to Plan for 2027
On Sunday 13 September 2026, more than 60,000 runners lined up in Newcastle for the AJ Bell Great North Run, the world's biggest half marathon. The 13.1-mile route runs from the city centre, across the Tyne Bridge and down to the finish on the coast at South Shields.
It was a big weekend for us too. Every one of our five Numero Uno houses was booked by runners, their families and their supporters, and it was a pleasure to welcome so many of you to Newcastle and Gateshead.

Why runners choose a whole house
Race weekend is about more than the run. Groups told us what made the difference:
Staying together: whole houses mean the whole team, club or family is under one roof the night before.
Space to rest: proper beds, room to spread out and a quiet night before an early start.
Your own kitchen: make your own pasta the night before and breakfast on race morning, on your own schedule.
Somewhere to come back to: a shower and a sofa after crossing the line beats a hotel lobby.

Planning for the Great North Run 2027
The next Great North Run is on Sunday 12 September 2027. The public ballot for 2027 has now closed, but charity places are usually available, so if you missed out it is worth looking at the official charity partners.
Book early: race weekend is one of the busiest weekends of the year in the North East, and our houses filled up well ahead of the race in 2026.
Stay Saturday and Sunday nights: check-in is from 3pm and check-out is by 10am, so a two-night stay means you are not rushing back to pack after the race.
Bring the whole group: our houses suit clubs, charity teams and families travelling together.
